Camping FAQ: What gear do I need to bring to Maui?

Staying in a camper van is an excellent way to explore the beauty of Maui (and without breaking the bank). However, packing for this adventure can be a bit different than what you might be used to, so let’s look at what you might need when staying in a camper van:

First and foremost, you will want to pack light. Space in a camper van is limited, so you will need to be strategic with what you bring. Bring lightweight clothing that is easy to layer, as the weather in Maui can be unpredictable, especially in the winter months. Don't forget to pack comfortable shoes, as you will likely be doing a lot of walking and hiking.

Since you will be spending a lot of time outdoors, it's important to bring sunscreen and insect repellent. Sunglasses and a hat are also a must-have for protection from the sun. You may also want to bring a headlamp or have the flashlight feature on your phone for nighttime activities.

Finally, don't forget to bring your sense of adventure! Maui is full of hidden gems, and exploring the island in a camper van is an excellent way to uncover them. Whether it's hiking to a secluded beach or stargazing at night, you're sure to have a memorable experience.

And... that’s it! The reality is that you really don’t need much at all when staying in our camper vans here on Maui. We provide everything you need to prepare a basic meal, stay cozy at night and even dry off after a shower. After you pick up your camper van, grab some groceries to place in the cooler provided and head out for your first adventure.

So, as you prep for your trip – pack light, bring sun protection and definitely don’t forget a sense of adventure. That’s all you’ll need and you’ll be good to go. Happy camping!
